Waterproof Bell Tent FAQs

Can I leave my bell tent up all season?

Bell tents can be pitched for extended periods in dry, mild conditions, but we don’t recommend long-term use through wet months without regular checks. Over time, UV, damp, and wind exposure can cause wear, so it’s best to pack it down in bad weather or rotate usage.

How long will the waterproofing last?

With good care, the waterproof treatment can last several seasons. For Polycotton and Cotton tents, we recommend reproofing after every 1–2 years of use, or sooner if the tent is frequently used or exposed to heavy rain.

How should I dry and store my tent?

If the tent gets wet, pitch it out or hang it to dry within 24–48 hours. This prevents mould and keeps the fabric in great condition.

What happens if the tent gets wet while packed?

It’s really important to dry the tent out fully as soon as possible – ideally within 24–48 hours. Leaving it damp can lead to mould or fabric damage, especially with natural fibres like cotton. Pitch it in a garden or over a washing line to air it out.

Which fabric is best for wet weather?

Polycotton and Fire Cotton offer the best balance of waterproofing and breathability. Fire Cotton also adds fireproofing and insulation for colder months.

Can I use a stove in wet conditions?

Yes, but only in stove-compatible tents. Polycotton and Fire Cotton are both safe to use with a stove, even in the rain – just ensure the flue is properly sealed.
